Old Dutch also forms the foundation here. The entire piece is then oiled, giving the wood a darker and deeper colour.
The entire product is first built up according to our Old Dutch finish. It is then treated with a natural oil. This immediately changes the overall appearance.
The oil makes the wood grain and traces of the different layers of paint more visible. This gives Dutch Dark an even more weathered character. At the same time, the overall appearance becomes richer and more pronounced than the matte, calm look of Old Dutch.
Dutch Dark is therefore particularly suited to situations where the wood itself is meant to be seen as wood. The grain, textures and traces of the finishing process are allowed to stand out more clearly.
The oil also makes the surface water- and dirt-repellent. This can be practical when wooden home accessories are used, for example, in a florist shop or hospitality environment. However, this does not mean that the products are officially food-safe. Our products are not certified for direct food contact.
Normal cleaning with a damp cloth and a little soap is not a problem. After a longer period of use, an oiled product can also easily be treated again with a little oil.
Dutch Dark combines the weathered foundation of Old Dutch with the deeper colour and visible structure of oiled wood.
